Astrid Rivas Rodríguez, 35, was shot dead in front of her house, which also served as a bar, in the Chiclayito neighborhood in the Castilla district of Piura, Peru. The crime occurred last weekend when two men on a motorcycle fired at least 10 shots at her without saying a word, while her companion watched the incident. The assailants immediately fled the scene.
The scene of the attack was littered with bullet casings, bottles and messy tables. The victim, a mother, had reported abuse by her ex-partner in December 2024, which could be linked to the murder. However, police are also investigating other possible motives, such as alleged links to extortion and murder.
Rivas Rodríguez and her current partner, Hairo Márquez Correa, who had a criminal record, were under investigation before the crime, strengthening the hypothesis of a possible settlement.
